OUTRIGHT!: Shutout of in-state rivals hands WolfPack first outright N4C title

Madison College finishes league play with 11-1-1 record, regular season finale Wednesday

MADISON, WISC. - With their one-sided 6-0 win over in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College on Friday, the Madison College men's soccer team assured themselves a solo spot atop the North Central Community College Conference standings for the first time since joining the league in 2009. The WolfPack will finish at least one game ahead of defending champ Harper College.

The game opened the way so many have in 2016, with the Andrews brothers combining for a score in the match's first ten minutes. On this occasion, Jake Andrews set up Toby Andrews for his team-leading 13th goal of the season.

It remained 1-0 until the final minute of the half, when J. Andrews dished out his second assist, this time to sophomore Christian Munoz. The Walworth, Wisconsin, native now has 11 goals on the year and 21 for his collegiate career, placing him third on the all-time list at Madison College.

The WolfPack put the game away in the second half with four goals, including two by sophomore Ryan Henry over a one-minute time span in the 58th and 59th minutes. The first was assisted by J. Andrews. Henry, a Madison Memorial (WI) HS grad, has scored four goals in the last four games after tallying just one in the season's first ten.

Jake Andrews put the finishing touches on a masterful performance by switching from the assistee to the assisted for the game's final two goals. Andrews twice converted passes from Jose Barron in the 64th and 75th minutes to give Madison College (11-1-2, 8-1-1) the 6-0 win. The London, England, native finished the match with a career-best seven points.

Freshman Blake Dehn received the start in goal, his first of his collegiate career, and picked up a shutout victory. Dehn, a native of Danvers, Illinois, did not make a single save against the three shots fired on goal by the Stormers (1-11-0, 0-9-0). The 'Pack finished with 25 shots on goal, as well as a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks against MATC-Milwaukee, whom they have now won eight straight matches against and 34 of the 46 all-time meetings.

Madison College will play it's final regular season game on Tuesday, October 11 against non-conference foe Malcolm X College (NJCAA DI). It will be the second head-to-head meeting with the Hawks (3-10), with the WolfPack taking a 6-0 decision in Madison last season. Game time in Chicago, Illinois, is at 4:00 p.m.
