Madison College women's basketball, currently ranked #2 in the nation in latest NJCAA Division III ranked and 13-0 overall, faced Benedictine University (IL) JV on Wednesday night for their final non-conference contest before starting North Central Community College (N4C) play this Saturday. The WolfPack defeated the visiting Eagles, 65-60, for their fourteenth straight victory. The two teams were evenly matched throughout and both offenses struggled shooting; Madison shot just 32.8 percent from the field while Benedictine shot just a tick better at 34.4 percent. The WolfPack's advantage came from the charity stripe, where they shot 23-for-27 (85.2%). Benedictine shot 68.4 percent from the line and the WolfPack capitalized on the 10 point advantage.
A trio of WolfPack led the team in scoring.
Rachel Slaney paced the team with 20 points on an efficient 6-of-13 from the floor. She also added a team high 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Jenna Endres added 19 points, including three three-pointers, while
Taylor Nelson also finished the night in double digits with 16 points. Nelson knocked down just three field goals but was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Nelson also grabbed seven rebounds and teammates,
Megan Petty and
Mandi Sargent, both hauled in five boards as well.
After five straight home games, the 14-0 WolfPack take to the road for their first conference game of the year in Glen Ellyn, IL. The 'Pack take on the College of DuPage at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
