Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

#2 WolfPack open N4C play with road win

The still undefeated Madison College women's basketball team is now just that in North Central Community College Conference (N4C) play as it handed the College of DuPage a 78-37 defeat to start 1-0 in league play and now 15-0 on the season. The WolfPack remain the number two ranked team in NJCAA Division III behind Roxbury (MA) College and sits two spots ahead of conference foe Rock Valley (IL) College.

Madison College fell behind 3-2 after the Chaparrals connected on a long-range shot nearly 90 seconds into the opening quarter. The WolfPack then scored 18 of the game's next 23 points to secure a 12-point lead, which continued to grow throughout the second for a 41-20 halftime lead. As has become customary, the 'Pack knocked down three-point shots early to both grab the lead and demoralize the opposition. Jenna Endres drained four of her game-high five triples in the first 20 minutes as Madison College went 5-for-10 outside the arc to open the game. The WolfPack took advantage of the charity stripe, using the free throw line to gain a 20-6 edge on the scoreboard.

On the defensive end, the Madison College pressure forced 16 turnovers and limited DuPage to 23% shooting as the Chaparrals were 15-of-65 overall and just 1-for-12 on three-point attempts. With so many opposition misses, the 'Pack cleaned up the glass with a 52-40 disparity in total rebounds.

Endres tallied a game-high 21 points to reach the 20-point plateau for the fourth time in nine games while also extending her double-digit scoring streak to 24 consecutive games. First-year forward Rachel Slaney notched her fifth double-double this season and second in as many games with 15 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Slaney also made a game-high 5-of-7 free throw attempts. Carly Johnson was part of the three-point shooting barrage, making all three of her tries outside the arc as part of a season-high 13-point effort for the first-year guard. Nine other WolfPack players scored in the game, including eight points from All-America guard Taylor Nelson. The Monona Grove product did not reach double figures for the third time this season and second time in three games.

Madison College remains on the road Monday, January 11 to play UW-Marathon County in Wausau, Wisconsin. The WolfPack have won 19 times in 22 all-time meeting, including four straight wins in the series. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
