The Madison College men's basketball team defeated the Wilbur Wright College Rams i
n their first North Central Community College Conference (N4C) game of the season, 70-56. The 16 point victory was the WolfPack's third straight victory. The 'Pack shot 50.9 percent from the floor compared to Wilbur Wright's 43.6 percent, and Madison flexed their muscles down low with a 40 to 22 point advantage in the paint.
Ethan Lurquin continued his solid play by leading the team in scoring with 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, including 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. Lurquin, who joined the team before the start of the New Year, also added seven rebounds, two steals, and an assist. The transfer student from Loras College, has already scored 57 points, hauled down 19 rebounds, and recorded four steals in his three games.
Kristian Zimmerman and
Malik Henderson joined Lurquin with double-digit points with 17 and 11 respectively. Zimmerman also paced the team with seven assists. The high-scoring trio shot a combined 22-for-35 from the field for a 62.8 percent clip in the win.
The WolfPack men go on the road for their next game against the College of DuPage Chaparrals in Glen Ellyn, IL on Saturday, January 9. The conference game starts at 3:00 p.m.
