The Madison College Women's Volleyball team captured the 2015 Rochester Community & Technical College Invitational title by going 4-0 in the tournament. The WolfPack beat Des Moines Area Community College, Central Lakes Community College, North Iowa Area Community College and Bismarck State College on their way to the tournament victory.
Game #1 - vs. Des Moines Area Community CollegeIn the first game of the tournament, the WolfPack faced then undefeated and #4 ranked Division II DMACC. Madison College traded games with the Bears over the first four games as the WolfPack claimed games one and three and DMACC claimed games two and four. In the deciding game both team traded blows and went into extra points before Madison College earned a hard fought 18-16 game five win to claim the match.
Allie Lehner led the team in kills (14) and blocks (5) with teammate
TeAnn Harms equaling Lehner's 14 kills as well.
Brianne Brueggen dished out 33 assists and had 13 digs while first year libero,
Stevie Winer, had a team-high 35 digs.
Abbey Loken recorded three aces.
Game #2 - vs. Central Lakes Community CollegeGame two proved to be a quick match as the WolfPack trounced on previously undefeated Central Lakes by not allowing them to reach double-figures in points in either of the first two games. Madison College won 25-6, 25-9 and 25-16.
Allie Lehner once again led the team in kills with nine while her second year teammate,
Abbey Loken had a team leading three blocks.
Brianne Brueggen had 24 assists and
Andrea Bauer had a team-high eight digs. Former River Valley athlete,
Taylor Genthe, led the 'Pack with five aces.
Game #3 - vs. North Iowa Area Community CollegeThe first game on Saturday proved to be another solid outing for the WolfPack women as they swept North Iowa Area Community College in three games, 25-18, 25-12 and 25-22. Madison College posted a .408 hitting percentage and was over .500 hitting percentage in the first two games.
Abbey Loken had a game-high 11 kills while teammate
TeAnn Harms led the way with four blocks.
Stevie Winer posted 10 digs and
Brianne Brueggen had 24 assists. Winer and Brueggen also had two aces each to lead the team in that category.
Game #4 - vs. Bismarck State CollegeAfter three wins the WolfPack found themselves in the championship against #15 ranked NJCAA Division II Bismarck State College. After claiming the first two games of the match (25-12, 25-19), Bismarck State won the third game 26-24. In the fourth game, Madison College took care of business, winning 25-16 to take the tournament title.
Allie Lehner capped off a long tournament with a good performance. Lehner posted game-highs in kills (13) and blocks (7). Former Prairie du Chein athlete,
Kaitlin Mooney, led the team in digs and aces while second year setter,
Brianne Brueggen recorded 37 assists.
