Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

WolfPack Men’s Soccer Throttles UW-Baraboo/Sauk County

Heading into the game with a 0-1-1 record, the WolfPack desperately wanted a win, and that's just what they did in a 9-2 road and non-conference game against UW-Baraboo/Sauk County. Baraboo secured the early lead with a goal at the 7:07 mark, but the WolfPack then rattled off six unanswered goals before Baraboo would score again. With a 6-2 lead after a second half goal for UW-Baraboo, the Madison College team recorded three more insurance goals for the huge seven goal differential.

Vincenzo Pipitone and Diego Lavariega scored the first two goals for the 'Pack, both on assists from Connor Waity. Yacouba Koita then scored an unassisted goal just before the first period ended that gave Madison College the 3-1 lead at the break. Christian Munoz started off the second half with two consecutive goals at the 58 and 64:12 minute mark to extend the lead even further. Waity and Pipitone provided the assists on Munoz' two goals that gave the 'Pack a 5-1 lead. Alfredo Raamirez-Pinho then extended the lead even further before Baraboo did their best to hold the WolfPack at bay with a goal of their own. Armed with a 6-2 lead, Ramirez-Pinho took matters into his own hands and netted three straight goals for the 9-2 drubbing. Waity proved the assists on Ramirez-Pinho's first two goals, and Octavio Hernandez assisted Ramirez-Pinho in the final score. John Arendt played the full 90 minutes in goal to pick up his first win as a goalkeeper. He recorded five saves in the win.

One record was tied and another was set in the 9-2 win as both Alfredo Ramirez-Pinho and Connor Waity made their way into the record books for their performances in the game. Alfredo Ramirez-Pinho scored four goals to tie in first place with Thiemko Kone and Dan Bednarzyk who achieved the same feat during the 2009 and 2008 seasons respectively. Connor Waity, who provided six assists on WolfPack goals throughout the game, stepped into the lead in the record books for assists in a game surpassing Bryan Ross' five assists in a 2005 contest.

The 1-1-1 WolfPack men's soccer team has a short turnaround before traveling to Palatine, IL for the first game of September and their first N4C conference game of the season against the Harper College Hawks. The September 2 game starts at 4:00 PM.
