The back-to-back NJCAA DIII champion Madison College volleyball team got off to a rough start with two straight losses to open the season in the highly competitive Battle for the Dells tournament. Madison College lost their season opener in the two-day tournament, held at Just A Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells, with a 2-3 loss to Iowa Lakes Community College on August 22, then the WolfPack suffered a 0-3 loss to Parkland College (IL) later that day. The season opening losses were to two high-powered NJCAA DII schools. The WolfPack's luck change immensely the second day of the tournament, as they defeated Waubonsee Community College and Rochester Community and Technical College, 3-0 in both matches on the second day of the tournament. The dominant three set wins over two more NJCAA DII schools evened the team's record and gave them some much needed momentum for the 2015 season.

In their season opening loss, Madison was thwarted by the Iowa Lakes Community College Lakers 21-25, 25-19, 26-28, 25-16, 9-15.
Allie Lehner and
TeAnn Harms both reached double-digits in kills as the duo recorded 13 and 10 respectively, and Lehner was also a blocking machine that finished with nine total blocks. Lehner recorded six block assists and three solo blocks in the loss, and Harms finished with three blocks (2 assisted).
Brianne Brueggen led the team with 32 assists and pitched in six digs, and
Andrea Bauer paced the team with three service aces. Bauer (16) and
Stevie Winer (11) led the team in digs.

In match two, Madison fell to the Parkland College Cobras 14-25, 18-25, 17-25. Lehner led the team in kills (9) and Brueggen was the team leader in assists with 15.
Abbey Loken recorded two service aces, and Bauer (11) and Winer (9) once again paced the team in digs.

Match three is where the tide started to turn for the WolfPack. It took only three sets as Madison College defeated the Waubonsee Community College Chiefs 25-19, 25-17, 25-17 to open up the second day of the tournament. Tylor Genthe and Loken both recorded eight kills, and Bauer and Harms each added six as the WolfPack recorded 32 in the three set match. Genthe was also the team leader with six blocks (5 assisted), and Brueggen was once again the team leader with 23 assists. Besides recording a team-high 16 digs, Winer pitched in a team-leading three service aces. Brueggen (12) and
Kaitlin Mooney (10) finished in double-digits in the digs category.

In their last match of the Battle for the Dells, Madison College swept the Yellow Jackets from Rochester Community and Technical College 25-19, 27-25, 25-16. Genthe and Harms both finished with a team-high eight kills, and the duo of Brueggen and Bauer both recorded five more. Lehner displayed her blocking ability with four solo blocks, and Brueggen once again led the team with 21 assists. Winer (11) and Brueggen (8) were the dig leaders.

The WolfPack volleyball team plays their home opener on August, 25 against the Edgewood College JV team. The match starts at 6:00 PM.
