The Madison College baseball team picked up an impressive 7-1 win over the Seminole State College Trojans on Wednesday afternoon in Surprise, AZ. The Madison offense recorded 10 hits to the Trojans four, and Seminole State committed four errors to further aid the WolfPack.
Â
The WolfPack took the early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, before Seminole State tied the game with a run in the bottom half off of Madison starter
Westin Wuethrich. Wuethrich settled down and pitched his best game of the young season after that on his way to allowing two hits, an earned run, and notching nine strike outs in six innings in earning the 7-1 win. Reliever
Dominick Golubiewski was nearly as effective as Wuethrich, as Dominick picked up the three-inning save, while recording three strikeouts.
Â
Travis Hamilton led the 'Pack at the plate by going 3-for-5 with a run scored, and
Courtney Watkins and
Sam Hurt both recorded two hits. Hurt went 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI and a run scored, and Watkins went 2-for-4 with a triple (the 'Packs lone extra base hit of the game), and scored a run. Hurt also added a steal.
Â
Next up for the Madison College baseball team is a nine-inning game with the Mesa Community College Thunderbirds in Mesa, AZ. The game starts at 3:00 p.m.
