All good things must come to an end, and they did last Wednesday for the Madison College men's basketball team. Having won five straight games, the WolfPack fell to the College of DuPage Chaparrals 78-83 in overtime in Glen Ellyn, IL. The loss dropped their record to 16-7 and 5-4 in the N4C.
The 'Pack faced something they haven't encountered in a while as they were down 30 to 27 after the first half of play. The 'Pack only shot 34 percent from the field, but DuPage didn't shoot it much better knocking down only 37 percent of their first half shots to keep things close. Showing their resiliency, Madison didn't give up after a rough first half and outscored the Chaparrals on 57 percent shooting to the game at the end of regulation. All knotted up 70 to 70, DuPage outscored the 'Pack by five points in the extra period for the 83-78 win. The Chaparrals dominance in points off turnovers (24 to 9), points in the paint (42 to 28) and bench points (45 to 23) proved to be pivotal. The WolfPack did outscore DuPage 36 to 21 on points beyond the arc to help force the overtime frame, but the 'Pack couldn't bring home the win.
