WolfPack women lose to Wolves on the road

The Madison College women's basketball team lost a key North Central Community College Conference (N4C) matchup after being named the #8 team in the nation in a NJCAA Division III poll released earlier in the day. The WolfPack fell behind at half, 27-36, against the host Joliet Junior College Wolves. The deficit proved to be too much as Joliet held on to the upset by outrebounding the WolfPack 49-33 and capitalizing on a 15-4 advantage in second chance points. The 62-57 loss handed the WolfPack just their third conference loss of the season.

The 'Pack had four players in double-figures led by Taylor Nelson's eighteen points on 6-for-14 shooting from the field and 5-for-7 shooting from the free throw line. Nelson added five rebounds and four assists. Fellow backcourt mate, Kelly Calhoun, pitched in with 14 points, six rebounds and two assists. In addition to Nelson and Calhoun, first year post, Sydney Harms, just missed a double-double scoring 11 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Jenna Endres had 10 points on a tough night shooting from three.

The WolfPack closed the gap in the second half by holding the Wolves to just 28 percent shooting and outscoring them 30-26 but that did not prove enough as Joliet held on to a 62-57 victory. The game dropped Madison College to 20-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play.

Madison College has one regular season home game left and will play that game Saturday in Palatine, IL against conference opponent, Harper College at 1 p.m.
