Madison College Men lose on the road

The Madison College men's basketball couldn't pull off the road N4C victory as they lost to the Joliet Junior College Wolves 62 to 73 last Wednesday in Joliet. The Wolves shot 48 percent from the field and limited the WolfPack to 32 percent shooting as Joliet came away with the 11 point win. The loss for the WolfPack drops their overall record to 17-10 and 6-7 in the N4C.
 
The poor shooting WolfPack were outshot by the Wolves 34 to 51 percent in the first frame, but Madison College was only down six points (34 to 40) and within striking distance. The 'Pack helped their cause by knocking down seven three-point shots to keep things close in the first half.
 
Joliet's shooting and Madison's lack thereof became apparent in the second frame the Wolves shot 44 percent from the floor and applied the pressure on Madison College as the WolfPack only knocked down 30 percent of their shots. Joliet also dominated down low, scoring 32 points in the paint to Madison College's 20. Besides hot three-point shooting in the first half, the WolfPack also outscored the Wolves in points off turnovers (20 to 13) and second chance points (8 to 4) in the losing effort.
 
Jerrod Walton had an effective game in the loss and led the team in scoring (17), rebounding (10), and assists (5), while shooting 6-of-21 from the floor. He also knocked down three three-point shots and his 17 points and 10 boards marked his seventh double-double of the season. Antowan Epps also reached double digit points with 10, while chipping in two assists, two steals, and one block. Tanner Schieve matched Walton's five assists, and Shane Kanaman was the team leader with three steals.
 
The WolfPack return to the court for their final regular season game on Saturday, February 21 against the Harper College Hawks. The N4C game in Palatine, IL starts at 3:00 p.m.
