The Madison College women's basketball team's high scoring offense was once again on display Wednesday night as the WolfPack outscored the visiting Triton College Trojans 92 to 39. Madison outshot Triton 49 percent to 21 percent from the field, and four WolfPack players scored at least 10 points in the blowout win. The 19-5 Madison College team now averages 80.4 points per contest on 42.8 percent field goal shooting.
In the first half, Madison College showed their dominance as they jumped out to a 50 to 19 point lead after the first 20 minutes. The WolfPack shot 45 percent in the opening frame connecting on 20-of-44 field goals, including four three point shots. The WolfPack defense also limited Triton to only 22 percent shooting in grabbing the 31 point lead at the break.
Things didn't change much in the second half as the 'Pack maintained their hot shooting to the tune of 55 percent, and Triton cooled off even further and shot 20 percent from the field. Madison College basically excelled in all phases of the game outscoring the Trojans 19-11 in points off turnovers, 21-0 in three-point points, 17-9 in second effort points, and the Madison bench outscored Triton's 56 to 6. The WolfPack also assisted on 30 of their 36 field goals and now average 18.3 assists per game.
Leading the team was freshman
Jenna Endres who scored a season and career high 31 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the floor, including 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. She also connected on her two free throw attempts, and tied
Kelly Calhoun for the team lead with three steals.
Megan Petty was just as efficient in scoring her 19 points, as she shot 9-of-12 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.
Sydney Harms (14) and
Kaitlyn Kast (11) rounded out the high scorers for the WolfPack. Besides her eight rebounds and one block,
Kelly Calhoun dished out 11 assists to tie the season high for an individual.
Sydney Harms paced the team with nine rebounds.
The big win over Triton puts Madison College in a great position for their next game, a matchup with the Madison Area Technical College Stormers on Saturday, February 14. The game at 1:00 p.m. could be for the N4C crown as the Stormers enter the game 10-1 in N4C play, while the WolfPack is 9-2.
