The Triton College Trojans came into the game as the #1 ranked team in NJCAA DII, and they showed why in Wednesday's N4C game with the Madison College WolfPack. Triton only held a four point lead at halftime, but ran away in the second frame for the 67-53 win over Madison College.
In the first half, the WolfPack kept the game close and actually outshot the Trojans from the field 47 to 37 percent, but they were still down 33 to 29 to Triton. The visiting Trojans saved their hot shooting for the second half as they connected on 12-of-25 field goals (48%), while the 'Pack only shot 32 percent in the frame to aid the Triton lead. Triton also dominated down low with 36 points to Madison's 18, as well as outscoring the 'Pack by 13 in second effort points and 10 in free throw points.
Jerrod Walton led the WolfPack with 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Walton also paced the team with four assists, and pitched in one block and one steal. Kris Sefrood joined Walton in double-digits with 11 points, nine coming from beyond the arc.
Kristian Zimmerman recorded three steals to lead the team, and he added nine points in the loss.
The 16-9 WolfPack return to the court this Saturday against the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers. The N4C conference home game starts at 3:00 p.m. and pits the 7-4 Stormers against the 5-6 WolfPack.
