Three-set sweeps are quickly becoming the norm for the top-ranked Madison College women's volleyball team as they added one more in the finale of the regular season against Clarke University (IA) JV at Redsten Gym in Madison on Monday, October 26. The sweep marked the 17th three-set victory of the season, including eight of their last ten matches.
Taylor Genthe and
Abbey Loken tied for match-honors at eight kills each, giving each 185 kills for the season.
Allie Lehner followed right behind with her seven kills, leaving the second-year player four shy of the 200 mark this fall. The WolfPack hit .263 collectively, including an impressive .370 in the match-clinching third set. Genthe and Loken also finished even with three service aces a piece.
Brianne Brueggen reached 30 assists for the third consecutive match, while
Stevie Winer (14) and
Andrea Bauer (12) each posted double-figure dig totals.
Madison College ends the regular season with a 26-4 overall record, the number one ranking nationally in NJCAA Division III, and a fourth-straight North Central Community College Conference title at 9-1 in N4C play. The two-time defending national champions own a 23-match win streak heading into the Region IV Tournament in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The tournament begins Saturday, October 31, with the seeds, pairings, and match times to be announced in the coming days.
