After successful regular seasons, the Madison College men's and women's soccer teams will both enjoy the luxury of beginning postseason play on their home pitch. The WolfPack will compete in the NJCAA Division III Region IV Tournament with hopes of advancing to District II Championship and the Division III National Tournament in Herkimer, NY.
The men's team and coach
Cory Sims earned a number two seed in the region courtesy of their 7-5-2 overall record and 5-4-1 conference record that was part of a three-way tie for second place in the N4C. The seeding also mean's Madison College has received a bye into the semifinals on Wednesday, October 21. The WolfPack will play the winner of Saturday's quarterfinal between Joliet Junior College and MATC-Milwaukee. This year Madison College went a combined 3-0-1 against those two clubs, as well as an impressive 5-1-1 at home.
The WolfPack are led by
Alfredo Ramirez-Pinho's team-high 15 goals, followed by
Christian Munoz with ten goals and
Vincenzo Pipitone with seven goals.
Connor Waity has distributed a team-best eight assists and
Bobby Beaudet was next in the category with. Defensively, goaltender
John Arendt posted a .791 save percentage and a 1.30 goals against average, stopping 68 of 86 shots faced with four shutouts. He started all 14 games in goal, and logged 1,244 minutes.
The Madison College women went 7-6-1 this fall, including a fourth-place 4-5-1 conference mark to earn a home quarterfinal match against the Joliet Junior College Wolves on Tuesday, October 20 at 3:00 p.m. The WolfPack beat the Wolves 9-0 in Madison and earned a 2-1 victory in Palatine, IL to sweep the season series. The winner will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, October 24. The higher seed will host the semifinal game.
The WolfPack top scoring threat has been
Tynia Goldensoph with ten goals.
Arianna Viscarra was next with eight goals, and
Katie Travis recorded five.
Katie Travis also tallied a team-high seven assists, and Viscarra finished second with six. In net
Lindsay Hamilton registered 95 saves against 118 shots on goal for a save percentage of .805 and a goals against average at 1.77. She started all 14 games and logged 1,168 and 39 seconds in goal.
