The Madison College men's basketball team won their first conference game of the year, last night, by beating Wilbur Wright College, 79-60, in Chicago, IL. The WolfPack were paced by five players in double-figures including freshman guard,
Brian Bearden's, first double-double of the season.
Despite being outshot by the host Rams 52 to 41 percent, the WolfPack led 42-38 at halftime by making four three-pointers and getting to the free throw line, making 12 free throws. In the second half, Madison College extended their lead and shut down the Rams offense, outscoring them 37-22. The WolfPack shot almost 46 percent from the field while holding Wilbur Wright to just under 28 percent.
Madison College had five players in double-figures led by second year guard,
Antowan Epps' 16 points, on 5-for-10 shooting.
Kendale Nation (15 pts.),
Brian Bearden (13 pts.),
Shane Kanaman (11 pts.) and
Clayton Alexander (11 pts.) all scored in double-figures as well. Bearden pulled down 11 rebounds and teammate, Clayon Alexander, grabbed nine rebounds to outrebound the host Rams 47-39.
The 79-60 victory gives the WolfPack their first conference win in a very competitive N4C conference and pushes their overall record to 9-3. Next up for Madison College is a contest against College of DuPage on Saturday at 3 p.m.
