The Madison College women's basketball team used their season best offensive output to secure the big 112-58 win over the Triton College Trojans to improve to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in the N4C. The WolfPack have now won eight of their last nine games and the team scored over 100 points in a game for the third time this season. Madison's high-octane offense is averaging 82.4 points per game after Saturday's drubbing of Triton, while opponents are averaging 57.7 points per game.
The WolfPack started their domination with an impressive first half, taking a commanding 63-31 halftime lead. Blistering shooting from the field (50%) and great efforts both in the paint and from the bench helped the 'Pack build the 31 lead at the break.
In the second half the Madison College women kept on rolling and actually improved on their shooting from the field (55%), while ratcheting up their defense. Madison held Triton to 30 percent shooting from the floor after the Trojans matched the 'Pack in first half shooting at 50 percent. Overall, the WolfPack connected on 11-of-18 shots from beyond the arc and out-rebounded Triton 55 to 35 in the 54 point win.
Kelly Calhoun and
Jenna Endres both paced the team in scoring with 25 points, and were joined by fellow double-digit scores
Taylor Nelson (19),
Sydney Harms (13), and
Kaitlyn Kast (10). Calhoun and Endres shot 10-of-14 and 10-of-13 from the field respectively, but the duo scored their 25 points very differently. Calhoun only connected on one three-pointer and sank four free throws, and Endres scored 15 of her points on five shots behind the arc. The WolfPack also dished out a team high 32 assists, and were led by Calhoun's nine. Nelson got into the action with eight assists, and both
Lizzy Britt and
Kaitlyn Kast recorded five.
Sydney Harms and
Amara Frey both led the team in rebounds with eight.
