The Madison College women's basketball team lost a tough conference road game to Milwaukee Area Technical College Wednesday night in Milwaukee. The WolfPack, lead by
Kelly Calhoun's 17 points jumped out to a three point halftime lead and had a lead with five minutes remaining. The host Stormers capitalized on their 42-17 free throw attempt advantage and pulled away from the Pack' down the stretch.
In the first half, the WolfPack led by as much as nine points before ending the half with a 33-30 advantage. In the second half, Madison College was tied with Milwaukee with 5:25 left but never got the lead back after that point. Depsite outshooting the Stormers from the field (37 to 36 percent), beyond the arc (35 to 16 percent), taking care of the ball (11 to 15 turnovers) and dishing out more assists (11 to 3 assists) the WolfPack lost to the Milwaukee in two important categories, rebounding and free-throw shooting. The Stormers outshot the WolfPack, 20-9 from the free-throw line, getting a 42-17 advantage in free-throw attempts and outrebounded Madison College, 61-49, and that proved to be the difference. Madison College fell 73-71.
Kelly Calhoun led all scorers with 17 points on 2-for-5 shooting from three while teammate,
Jenna Endres, added 13 points on 3-for-7 shooting from three. Both
Taylor Nelson and
Kaitlyn Kast contributed 10 points while Nelson also added eight rebounds.
Megan Petty pulled down nine rebounds to go with six points before fouling out of the game in the second half.
The loss pushed the WolfPack's conference record to 3-2 and the team is set to face another conference opponent, Joliet Junior College, this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Madison College
