Madison College was certainly ready to face the NJCAA Division III runners-up and current #4 team in the nation, Rock Valley College, but the Golden Eagles were not ready to give the game to the WolfPack. Rock Valley shot over 61 percent for the game and outrebounded the WolfPack by 11 to win 87-79, beating Madison College for the eleventh consecutive time.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 47-42 lead at half on almost 68 percent shooting from the field, consistly getting to the basket. The WolfPack stuck around but could not convert a three-point shot, going 0-for-7 in the first half.
In the second half, the WolfPack had success getting the ball inside to
Megan Petty but could not match the speed of the Golden Eagles. Rock Valley ended up shooting over 61 percent from the field and almost 42 percent from beyond the arc while the WolfPack shot 44 percent from the field and just seven percent from three.
The WolfPack were led by
Megan Petty's season high 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting including 4-for-6 shooting from the free throw line.
Taylor Nelson added 18 points and five rebounds while fellow backcourt mate,
Kelly Calhoun pitched in with 12 points and eight assists.
Madison College fell to 2-1 in conference play and 10-4 overall. Next up for the WolfPack women is a conference matchup with Triton College in River Grove, IL on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
