Monday night, the Madison College men's basketball team jumped out to a 23-0 lead against UW-Marathon County and never looked back. Outscoring the Huskies 51-26 in the opening 20 minutes, the WolfPack would grab the "W," 80-58.
Jack Jelacic, playing in just his third game due to injury, was the biggest offensive bright spot for
Scot Vesterdahl's team. Grabbing 14 minutes of work off the bench, Jelacic would score 16 points, including hitting 3-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc.
Brian Bearden and
Jake Andrews would add 12 and 10, respectively.
Defensively, the 'Pack would force 26 Marathon County turnovers, leading to 37 points. However, the team was outscored 32-29 in the second half.
Depth was once again prevalent for Madison College. The WolfPack reserves bested their counterparts, scoring 60 points to the Huskies' 15.
Wednesday, Madison College (11-3, 2-0) will host defending national champion Rock Valley College at 7:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles are the top-ranked team in NJCAA Division III.
