They may not have run the proverbial table during this weekend's Harper College Invitational, losing for just the second time this season against Waubonsee Community College, but the WolfPack volleyball team still passed their litmus test. Closing out Saturday, against second-ranked Rochester Community & Technical College, top-ranked Madison collected a 3-1 victory.
After defeating both Illinois Valley Community College and Minnesota State Community & Technical College-Fergus Falls Friday, the 15-1 'Pack failed to pick apart Waubonsee Community College, an NJCAA Division II opponent. Despite 12 kills from sophomore outside hitter Katylnn Wirag, as well as winning the opening set 25-23, Madison College would fall 3-1 to the Chiefs. Waubonsee won by the final scores of 23-25, 27-25, 25-19 and 25-17.
In defeat,
Hannah Grahn finished with 40 assists. Defensively, Sydeny Clarson added 32 digs and
Abbey Loken had five blocks.
Finishing the tournament against a fellow division III power, the WolfPack would turn things around against Rochester Community & Technical College. Behind 15 kills from Wirag, Madison College would take the first two sets, en route to a 3-1 victory. When all was said and done, the scoreboard read 25-14, 25-22, 19-25 and 25-17 in favor of the 'Pack.
