Day one of the Harper College Invitational was more than good to the Madison College volleyball team. Taking on Illinois Valley Community College and Minnesota State Community & Technical College-Fergus Falls, the WolfPack garnered a pair of three set sweeps.
Match one, against Illinois Valley, sophomore outside hitter
Katlynn Wirag led the way offensively. Wirag picked up 16 kills, to go along with three service aces in the match. Meanwhile,
Hannah Grahn had 29 assists.
Defensively,
Sydney Clarson tallied 20 digs, while
Chandler Carlson came through with three blocks.
The final scores against Illinois Valley read 25-11, 25-15, 25-15.
Match two, the WolfPack would pick up right where they left off. Playing Minnesota State Community & Technical College, Madison College got some great play from sophomore outside hitter
Tegan Van Moer. Van Moer led the 'Pack's offense with 10 kills.
Once again,
Hannah Grahn directed the offense, dishing out 32 assists.
Sydney Clarson came through on the defensive end with 27 digs.
The only set that was close in the team's second match of the day was the second. There, Madison College edged out a 25-23 win. Final scores across the board read, 25-14, 25-23, 25-15.
Today, the WolfPack will play Waubonsee Community College and second-ranked Rochester Community & Technical College. Times for the matches will be 10 a.m. and noon.
