Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer team still undefeated in N4C play

Cory Sims has the Madison College men's soccer team moving in the right direction. Last season, in what was his first year with the team, the WolfPack finished 4-4 in conference competition. Following Friday's win over Harper College, Madison College is already 3-0 in N4C play this year.

The WolfPack soared early against the Hawks. In the game's 11th minute, Mikel Appiah gave Madison College the 1-0 lead, scoring on an assist from Casey Risch. Appiah's goal would mark the only score of the first half.

Harper responded in the second half, tying things at 1-1 on a goal by Alex Freeman in the 72nd minute. However, the WolfPack would not be denied. 11 minutes later, Yacouba Koita went in unassisted for the game-winning goal, as Madison College would hold on to win it 2-1.

The WolfPack outshot Harper 16-15 in the contest, but it was the Hawks who had more shots on goal, finishing with three more opportunities than Madison. Harper College also had four more corner kick opportunities.

In net, Thomas Sheahan made seven saves for Madison College. He's now tallied 39 saves on the season, while allowing just eight goals.

Up next, the WolfPack (3-3, 3-0) will host Joliet Junior College Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. The Wolves ousted Madison College in last year's NJCAA Region IV Tournament semifinals with a 1-0 win.
