Soon, the Madison College men's soccer team is bound to have one bounce their way. Playing in their second game of the 2014 season, the WolfPack lost their second close encounter, falling 2-1 to McHenry County College.
Coming off a 1-0 loss to Concordia University (Wisconsin), the WolfPack was determined to pick up their first win Saturday afternoon. However, the Scots wouldn't make things easy on Madison College. Entering the halftime break, neither team had tallied a goal.
In fact, 62 minutes in, the game was still tied 0-0. That changed in the 63rd minute, with Matt May breaking free, unassisted, to beat
Thomas Sheahan and give McHenry the 1-0 lead.
The Scots lead wouldn't last long. Just five minutes later,
Andrew Zimmerman scored his own unassisted goal, putting one past Christian Quiros to tie things up at 1-1.
The contest would remain tied 1-1 until the 75th minute. There, Matt May once again got free for an unassisted goal, the score proving to be the game-winner.
Shehan made two saves for Madison College on the afternoon. The WolfPack was outshot 11-5; with McHenry County registering two more tries on net.
Wednesday, Sept. 3 will mark the WolfPack's home opener. Madison College hosts Triton College at Warner Park beginning at 4 p.m.
