WolfPack softball dropped for second straight time

Box Score The Arizona spring trip is proving to be a bit of a bear for the Madison College softball team. Saturday, the WolfPack lost for the second time in as many tries in Tucson, falling to Douglas College JV (Canada) 9-1.

After scoring the game's first run in the first inning, the Royals really poured it on late against Madison College. Douglas College JV added three runs in the fourth, two more in the fifth, and another three in the sixth for the mercy. The WolfPack had surrendered 13 hits to the Royals by the time the game had ended.

Meanwhile, Madison College struggled offensively. Their lone run of the game came in the fifth, when Megan Hanke singled to center to plate Austann Abbott. The hit was one of just four total for the 'Pack.

Paige Giese was charged with the loss for Madison College. Giese allowed six runs in five innings of work, walked one and struck out one.

The WolfPack (4-2) will get another crack at the Royals tomorrow, with the two teams set to meet once more at 9 a.m. Following their rematch with Douglas College JV, Madison College will square off with Doane College JV (Neb.) at 1:30 p.m.
