Box Score For the second time this season, the sixth-ranked Madison College women's basketball team battled in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College into overtime. However, despite playing at home, the WolfPack managed to knock down just 30 percent of their shots in the extra frame, prior to falling 100-94.
Madison College struggled offensively in the first half. The team connected on only 21 percent of their shots from the field, as well as just 29 percent of their free throws. Despite those deficiencies, the team trailed by just nine points at the break.
In the second, the WolfPack heated up from the field, connecting on 22-of-36 attempts (61 percent), en route to scoring 58 points. Unfortunately, free throw shooting woes continued to plague the team. Madison College only made 10-of-19 (52 percent) from the charity stripe, as the game would go into overtime.
The ball wouldn't bounce the WolfPack's way in the extra frame. The Stormers outscored Madison 17-11 in the game's final five minutes, getting 13 of those points at the free throw line.
Ashley McHenry was a force for Milwaukee in the win, scoring a game-high 44 points on 15-of-24 (62 percent) shooting. She also added eight rebounds.
As a team, the Stormers outrebounded Madison College 76-52.
Meagan Mazur and
Kelly Calhoun led the way for the WolfPack. Mazur finished with a team-high 21 points, while Calhoun scored 20. Freshman guard
Gabrielle Hood added 18 points.
With the loss, the WolfPack (16-8, 7-3) has now dropped back-to-back conference contests for the first time this season. They will look to snap the two-game skid Wednesday, as they travel to Wilbur Wright College for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
