WolfPack's Whetstone named WBCA Junior College Coach of the Year

Award follows 24-win season, Region 4 title, and program's first trip to NJCAA Div. II National Tournament

Madison College women's basketball coach Angel Whetstone has been named the 2026 Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Junior College Coach of the Year following an historic 2025-26 season. This is the second coach of the year award for Whetstone, who was also named the Region 4 District B Coach of the Year, and the first for a WolfPack coach since Lois Heeren following 2017-18 campaign.

Whetstone guided Madison College to a 24-6 record in her third season leading the program. It resulted in a Region 4 championship for the first time in a decade and the team's eighth region crown overall. The WolfPack made their eighth trip to a national tournament, including the school's first-ever appearance at the NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championships. Three players received All-Region 4 accolades, with freshman Serinity Metcalfe being named Region 4 Player of the Year and NJCAA Second Team All-American.

Over her career, Whetstone is 36-47 (.433) and has improved the team's win total by ten or more in each of the past two seasons.
