Following a tightly contested first half against Olive-Harvey College Friday evening, the Madison College men's basketball team surged ahead in the game's final 20 minutes. Shooting 60 percent from the floor, after the halftime break, the WolfPack would come away with an 83-68 win.
Madison College went into halftime up a single point, 35-34, despite leading by as many as 10. Luckily, they'd set the tone early in the second, quickly pushing their lead to nine points less than two minutes in. The Panthers would hang around, trailing by just three with eight minutes left, but by the three-minute mark the 'Pack had pushed their lead to 15.
Madison College held their opponent to 33 percent shooting for the game. They also forced 16 Olive-Harvey turnovers, resulting in 17 points.
Jerrod Walton led the WolfPack with 22 points and nine rebounds.
Brian Bearden and
Shane Kanaman also scored in double figures for Madison College, tallying 15 and 12, respectively. With the help of Bearden and Kanaman, the WolfPack's bench would outscore that of the Panther's 41-22.
Madison College improved to 8-1 on the season, with a 3 p.m. game at College of Lake County scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Saturday's game will be the last for the WolfPack until the new year. Madison College will visit Kishwaukee College Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015.
