Friday afternoon, the Madison College women's basketball team appeared on its way to their second win in as many games this season. However, after shooting 28 percent against fifth-ranked Anoka-Ramsey Community College in the second half, the team fell to the Golden Rams 77-70.
After hitting 14-of-36 (38 percent) from the field in the first half, the WolfPack would take a six point lead into the break, 42-36. Unfortunately, while the 'Pack would at one time lead it 60-42, Anoka-Ramsey picked things up offensively. The Golden Rams knocked down 43 percent of their shots in the game's final 20 minutes to pull away late.
Despite the losing effort,
Taylor Nelson scored 20 points for Madison College.
Megan Petty and
Kelly Calhoun each added 11, with
Sydney Harms chipping in 10.
Bre Grube was the top offensive performer for the Golden Rams, finishing with 24 points, five rebounds, two assists and three blocks. As a team, Anoka-Ramsey outscored the WolfPack 41-28 in the second half.
The WolfPack (1-1) will look to rebound from the loss tomorrow afternoon when they face Gogebic Community College at 2 p.m.
