Just like the women's basketball team did before them, the Madison College men's basketball team secured a season-opening win Wednesday night. Six players scored in double figures, with
Jerrod Walton's 15 leading the way, as the WolfPack won 93-61.
Joining Walton in scoring double figures for the 'Pack were
Antowan Epps (13),
Tanner Schieve (12),
Kris Seffrood (11),
Kendale Nation (11) and
Simeon Pooler (10). For the game, the team connected on 43 percent of their field goals, hitting 38-of-87 from the floor.
Defensively, Madison College turned 28 Foxes turnovers into 31 points. Walton, specifically, proved to be a tough test for the WolfPack's opponent, coming through with six steals and three blocks.
The WolfPack also won the battle on the boards, outrebounding Fox Valley Technical College 52-39.
Again, like the women before them, the WolfPack would take an eight point lead into the half, before blowing things wide-open in the game's final 20 minutes. Madison College outscored the Foxes 56-32 in the second half.
Scot Vesterdahl's team showed its depth against Fox Valley, their bench outscoring the Foxes' subs 38-15.
Next up, the WolfPack (1-0) will travel to Ironwood, Michigan, for the Tri-State Basketball Classic. Madison College will take on Anoka-Ramsey Community College Friday, beginning at 4 p.m., before squaring off with Gogebic Community College Saturday, in what will be another 4 p.m. tip-off.
