In what was a back-and-forth affair, the Madison College women's basketball team was barely edged out by Elgin Community College Saturday afternoon. Trailing 26-28 at the half, the WolfPack eventually fell 48-46.
While the 'Pack picked up more points in the paint, scoring 32 to the Spartans 20, it was Elgin hitting from beyond the arc. Over the course of 40 minutes, the Spartans knocked down eight of their 12 three-point attempts (66 percent).
Kelly Calhoun led Madison College in scoring, finishing with 13 points.
Taylor Nelson added 10.
Elgin's Jen Dumoulin scored a game-high 18, while Clarissa Ramos finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
With the loss, the WolfPack fell to 3-3 on the year. Rochester Community & Technical College is next for Madison College. The two teams will tip off Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
