For the first time since Nov. 2, 2013, the Madison College volleyball team competed in a five-set match Tuesday. Visiting 10th-ranked Rock Valley College, the top-ranked WolfPack won 3-2, the final scores reading 21-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-4.
Dropping two of the first three sets, Madison College had their back against the wall facing the Golden Eagles. However, they responded very well, grabbing a four-point win in the fourth, before cruising 15-4 in the deciding set.
Katlynn Wirag's 15 kills and three service aces paced the 'Pack offensively. Meanwhile,
Hannah Grahn recorded 46 assists in the winning effort.
Defensively,
Sydney Clarson collected 30 digs, while
Mikayla Nigl added four blocks at the net.
The victory improves the WolfPack's N4C record to 9-0 on the year. They're now 20-2 overall.
Madison College will visit seventh-ranked Harper College Thursday. The match in Palatine, Illinois, is slated to start at 6 p.m.
