For the first time in two years, the Madison College volleyball team has dropped a North Central Community College Conference (N4C) match. Thursday, the top-ranked WolfPack fell at seventh-ranked Harper College 3-1.
Playing in Palatine, Illinois, Madison College got out to a rough start, dropping the first two sets to the Hawks 25-23 and 25-18. Though the team responded well in winning the third set 25-21, it only delayed the eventual defeat. With their home crowd behind them, Harper College closed out the match with a 25-19 fourth set victory.
Katlynn Wirag finished with 15 kills for the 'Pack in the losing effort. Meanwhile, setter
Hannah Grahn tallied 38 assists.
Sydney Clarson and
Allie Lehner were the defensive leaders on the night for Madison College. Clarson had 23 digs, with Lehner tallying six blocks up front.
The last time the WolfPack (20-3, 9-1) had lost a regular season N4C match was 2012, falling twice that year to the Hawks. Madison College returns to their home gym Tuesday to host Triton College at 6 p.m. The team has just five matches remaining prior to the start of postseason play.
