Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

WolfPack volleyball takes out Triton

Coming off their first conference loss in two years, the top-ranked Madison College volleyball team was impressive against Triton College Tuesday night. The WolfPack swept the Trojans 3-0, winning by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-10.

"They [Harper] showed us that we need to buckle down and focus on every single match as an individual thing, instead of overlooking to the big picture," said freshman middle blocker Allie Lehner.

The 'Pack was definitely prepared against Triton, dictating the pace and style of play so much that they were able to utilize several reserve players during the match. Those subs making an impact included freshmen Kayla Nelson (three blocks, five digs) and Brianne Brueggen (12 assists, four digs, three service aces), along with sophomore newcomer Tegan Van Moer (three kills).

"The cool part about our first year kids this year too, I think they'd very much like to see the second year kids' goals attained," said WolfPack head coach Toby Parker. "They know for a fact that they have to be a bigger part of it than they have been to this point in the season."

Abbey Loken and Katlynn Wirag led the WolfPack's offensive attack, each finishing with eight kills. Meanwhile, Hannah Grahn tallied 18 assists.

Defensively, Sydney Clarson was the star with 12 digs.

With the win, Madison College improved to 21-3 overall, including a 10-1 mark in North Central Community College Conference (N4C) play. The team now has just four games remaining prior to the start of postseason play. However, with Edgewood College, Carthage College, and UW-Whitewater all left on the schedule, Coach Parker expects his team to be tested in a good way before the one-and-done format begins.

"Our purpose for those intentional matches, and scheduling them, is to prepare us for that postseason run again," Parker said. "We've got some folks on this roster who have made it clear in the last 72 hours, in the locker room and in a closed door meeting last week, that their goals are specific and their goals are attainable, and they're really big ones."
