WolfPack volleyball finishes regular season strong

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The second-ranked Madison College volleyball team will head into postseason play Saturday on a high note. Playing in the UW-Whitewater JV Triangular, the WolfPack managed a pair of wins over Carthage College and Whitewater, defeating their opponents 3-2 and 3-1, respectively.

In match number one, taking on Carthage, the 'Pack found themselves in a back and forth affair. After winning set number one 25-21, Madison College scored just 12 points in the second set. The next two sets were decided by a combined five points, with the WolfPack winning the third 26-24 and losing the fourth 22-25, setting up the team's second five-set match all season long.

In the fifth and final set, Madison College came through in the clutch, winning 15-12.

Freshman middle blocker Allie Lehner was fantastic in the victory. Lehner led the 'Pack with 16 kills, set up on numerous occasions by Hannah Grahn, who finished with 44 assists.

Defensively, Sydney Clarson came away with 15 digs.

A couple of hours later, Madison College would match up with the home team, the Warhawks. Once again, they'd take care of business, ending their regular season with a win.

This time around, the WolfPack would need just four sets to seal the deal. The first two sets were both decided by scores of 25-17, with Madison College winning the first. Following the split, the 'Pack would finish things off, winning sets three and four by scores of 27-25 and 25-15, respectively.

Once again, Lehner stole the show offensively. The freshman middle blocker led the team in kills for the second time in as many matches, finishing with 12 in the winning effort.

Hannah Grahn not only finished with 33 assists, by three service aces as well, tying for the team lead with Alison Massey. Sydney Clarson and Brianne Brueggen each tallied 19 digs defensively.

Madison College (25-3, 11-1) will be the top seed in the upcoming NJCAA Region IV Tournament. Following a first-round bye, the WolfPack will get the winner of #5 Milwaukee Area Technical College and #4 Joliet Junior College Saturday. The match is set to get underway at 10 a.m., with the winner advancing to the championship game at 2 p.m.
