Eckhart's 21 not enough to propel WolfPack men

Box Score Despite playing just 19 minutes, Griffin Eckhart had himself a game Wednesday evening. Eckhart scored 21 points. on 10-of-13 shooting, and grabbed six boards. However, it wasn't enough, as the Madison College men fell to seventh-ranked Rock Valley College 105-74.

The Golden Eagles well-balanced attack was evident right from the start, as they raced out to a 47-21 halftime lead. Throughout the game, Rock Valley hit 54 percent of their shots from the field, including 46 percent from beyond the arc. When the final horn sounded, five players had scored in double figures.

The WolfPack had little answer for Rock Valley's Jared Mayes. The 6'4" freshman finished with 33 points, hitting 14 of his 21 shots.

Joining Eckhart as double digit scorers for Madison College were Tyler Ballweg and Corey McGowan. Ballweg finished with 11 points on the evening, while McGowan added 12.

Like they have several times this season, the WolfPack started slow once again. The team only shot the ball at a 24 percent clip in the opening 20 minutes. In comparison, they hit 58 perecnt of their shots in the second half, but by that time it was a little too late.

Up next, Madison College (3-15, 1-4) begins a five-game road trip, starting at the College of DuPage Saturday, Jan. 25. The WolfPack was swept by the Chaparrals in their two-game series last season.
