Losing streak snapped, WolfPack men beat Wilbur Wright

Box Score In their 75-48 victory over Wilbur Wright College Saturday, the Madison College men's basketball team did a little bit of everything. They shot 60 percent in the second half, hit 42 percent of their three-point attempts, and outrebounded the Rams 47-24. The win snapped a nine-game losing streak for the WolfPack.

"The last five games we were always in the game, and we couldn't finish in the end," said freshman guard Shane Kanaman. "It finally feels good to finish the game and win. It's gonna raise the whole morale of the team."

"They deserve to win," said assistant coach Justin Litscher. "We talked about the fact that, yeah you may deserve to win, but you gotta go take it. I think they went and took it today."

The 'Pack spread the ball around nicely, in what proved to be one of their best shooting performances of the season. Nathan Scheeter, Corey McGowan and Shane Kanaman combined to hit eight of their 16 three-point attempts. Kanaman finished with a team-high 15 points, while Brandon Holz and Scheeter added 12 and 11, respectively.

Madison College really made their mark on the glass as well. Outrebounding the Rams by more than 20, the WolfPack would limit Wilbur Wright College to just four second chance points.

After taking a 31-19 lead into the halftime break, Madison College closed out strong by scoring 44 second half points.

The win is the first in North Central Community College Conference (N4C) play for the WolfPack. Madison Collge (3-14, 1-3) will try to build off that momentum for their next game against fifth-ranked Rock Valley College. The 'Pack plays host to the Golden Eagles Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
