Madison College Men’s Basketball Can’t Hold off Stormers

Box Score The WolfPack men's basketball team was knocked off by the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers in Milwaukee, WI Saturday, 64 to 56. The WolfPack hung tough after the first half and were only down two points, 23 to 21, before the Stormers rained on Madison College's parade in the second half. The Stormers outscored the 'Pack 41 to 35 and won the N4C game handedly by eight points.
 
Despite outshooting the Stormers from the field 35 percent to 33.3 percent during the game, outrebounding the Stormers 46 to 31, receiving more help of the bench (31 points to the Stormers 21), and winning several other in-game statistical breakdowns; MATC-Milwaukee got the last laugh. The Stormers did outscore the WolfPack at the charity stripe 27 to 12 points, and improved on their field goal shooting in the pivotal second half. The MATC-Milwaukee Stormers were held in check by the WolfPack's great defense to the tune of 24.2 percent (8-for-33) field goal shooting in the first half, before striking for 10-for-21 second half  shooting (47.6%). Milwaukee's improved firld goal shooting in the second frame and the free throw advantage they held over the 'Pack proved to be the difference.
 
Dominic Fumbanks led the team in scoring with 14 points, and was one of two others to reach the double digit scoring plateau for the WolfPack. Fumbanks scored his 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field, including 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Jason Miller finished with 11 points and a team leading five steals to go along with five rebounds, and Adam Ruka rounded out the double-digit trio with 10 points. Six of his ten points came from the charity stripe and he added a team leading nine rebounds.

Next up for the 4-22 WolfPack is a home N4C conference game against the Wilbur Wright College Rams. The game in Madison on Wednesday, February 13 starts at 7:30 PM. Madison College is 1-9 in the N4C and looks forward to picking up their second conference win.
