Box Score The Madison College men's basketball team fell behind by seven points (38 to 31) to the Rock Valley Golden Eagles on Saturday, February 16 before the visitors cruised to an 87 to 77 win in Madison, WI. The N4C loss dropped Madison College's record to 5-23 and 2-10 in the N4C.
Rock Valley jumped out to the seven point first half lead behind great shooting from the field as displayed by them shooting 48.3 percent from the field (14-of-29) while hitting 5-of-14 three points shots. The Golden Eagles limited the 'Pack to 38.7 shooting in the first half with strong defense, but the second half saw both teams shoot lights out from the field. Even though the Golden Eagles clearly outshot the 'Pack from the field in the second half (52% to 48.4%), Madison was able to hang tough and only lose the second half battle 49 to 46.
Isaiah Nordeng led the team with 18 points and added two of the team's six assists. Nordeng shot 6-of-9 from the field, and knocked down all five of his free throw attempts.
Dominic Fumbanks also shot efficiently in reaching double figures with 16 points. Fumbanks shot 8-of-14 from the field and added four rebounds.
Jason Miller led the team with eight rebounds in the loss, and
Ryan Plaice recorded a team leading three assists. Relative newcomers and Monticello, WI natives
Corey McGowan and
Brandon Holz each recorded three steals to lead the defense.
The Madison College men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, February 20 when the travel to River Grove, IL for a N4C game against the College of DuPage Chaparrals. The game being placed at Triton College tips-off at 7:00 PM.
