The Madison College men's basketball team started their season this weekend with two losses. They played two games, one on Friday and one on Saturday.
The WolfPack put up a fight against Gogebic Community College in their first game. The halftime score of 44-37 left the game still up for grabs. Unfortunately, however, Madison College was unable to pull ahead of their opponents and the game ended with a score of 79-67. Despite the loss, the WolfPack managed to rack up some solid statistics. Griffin Eckhart contributed 13 points and accumulated an impressive seven rebounds and one steal. Meanwhile, Myron Anthony added another 11 points in addition to five rebounds and two steals. As a team the WolfPack finished 37% from the field and 58% from the free throw line.
The second game was even closer than the first. Madison College gave Anoka-Ramsey Community College a run for their money. The WolfPack was hot on the heels of their opponent at halftime, when the score was 43-38. In the end, they missed their target by only eight points. The final score was 84-76 Anoka-Ramsey. In the lead for the WolfPack was Anthony, who racked up 22 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two rebounds. Eckhart did not let his presence go unnoticed, either: he pulled off 16 points and seven rebounds.
The team's overall record currently sits at 0-2. They will play again on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Dixon, Ill., to play against Sauk County Community College.
