WolfPack volleyball cruises past Crusaders

The Madison College volleyball team has picked up win number 20 on the season. Hosting Clarke University JV Thursday evening, the WolfPack took out their latest opponent 25-16, 25-17, 25-16.

Freshman middle blocker Mikayla Nigl had arguably her best performance of the season, leading the team with 11 kills and two blocks on the night. "She's very good, withouth cutting to the chase" Madison College head coach Toby Parker said. "She hit the ball very well tonight, but off-speed as well as the velocity."

Nigl had plenty of help though, as Hannah Grahn tallied 23 assists and Vanessa Clarson two service aces. Clarson also led the team defensively with 22 digs.

Madison College is now 6-0 at home, having yet to drop a single set at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. "We're really just dynamic when we go out to play," said sophomore setter Melinda Statz. "Our goal is obviously to win, and if we can win in three that's great. We all have one goal, that's to get to nationals, and we know that we need to do it one step at a time."

The WolfPack (20-3, 9-0) will take a seven-match unbeaten streak to Triton College Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. Their next home match will come against Fox Valley Technical College on Thursday, Oct. 10.
