It wasn't their prettiest win, but it's hard to complain about any three-set sweep. Tuesday evening, the WolfPack volleyball team beat conference foe Joliet Junior College 25-23, 25-19, 25-14. The team has yet to drop a single set in eight matches at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium.
"We should've lost that first set," said Madison College head coach
Toby Parker. "We didn't, but we should've. Second set, we came out of the gate slow again. So, not what we're accustomed to, certainly not what we've been doing as of late, but I will give the girls credit. They responded well to the poor start and finished strong."
"It was definitely mental," said sophomore opposite
Payton Klein. "I think we came into it a little too confident, but then we realized we really had to keep working."
Klein led the team offensively with 10 kills, with setter
Hannah Grahn picking up 35 assists. Sophomores
Vanessa Clarson and
Danielle Crawford were the defensive stars, finishing with 15 digs and four blocks respectively.
The WolfPack (25-3, 11-0) will compete in their final regular-season conference match on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. The team hosts Harper College, on what will be Youth Volleyball Night. Those wearing their respective team jersey will gain free admission to the match, plus a free popcorn at the concession stand.
