Men’s Basketball Held Off by Triton

Box Score In search of their first N4C conference win, the Madison College WolfPack men's basketball team couldn't complete the comeback in Chicago, IL against the Wilbur Wright College Rams on Saturday afternoon. The Rams took an early six point lead (27 to 21) at the break, and held off the 'Pack's offensive attack in the second half to claim the 52 to 46 win over Madison College.

The WolfPack played a tight game with the Rams throughout the contest, but particularly in the second half where Madison College matched the Rams 25 points. Wilbur Wright did manage to claim a few statistical battles by a relatively small margin including winning second chance points (7 to 1) and outrebounding the 'Pack (36 to 33), but held a clear advantage in points beyond the arc. The Rams knocked down six three-pointers to Madison College's one, and outshot the 'Pack beyond the arc 35 percent to 16 percent. Madison College did shoot slightly better than Wilbur Wright from the field in the game (39% to 37%), but the Ram's clear advantage from long distance proved to be the difference.

Both Adam Ruka (17) and Brandon Holz (10) reached the double-digit plateau for the 'Pack, and Ruka just missed a double-double with eight rebounds. Holz scored his 10 points rather efficiently, scoring them on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, while chipping in five rebounds and three assists. Ryan Plaice had another great game from his point guard position with seven rebounds, six points, and five assists to only one turnover in the loss to the Rams.

The 2-17 (0-4 N4C) men's basketball team returns to the court for another conference game next Wednesday, January 26, against the Rock Valley College Golden Eagles in Rockford, IL. The N4C game starts at 7:30 PM.
