Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 The men's basketball team fell painstakingly short of picking up their first win of the season, as they finished two points short in Friday's 75-77 loss to Anoka-Ramsey Community College in their Milwaukee Classic opener. The WolfPack was then overpowered 93-66 by the Gogebic Community College Samsons in Saturday's tournament finale to fall to 0-4 on the year.
Four WolfPack reached double figures in points in Friday's close loss to the Anoka-Ramsey Golden Rams, but it wasn't quite enough. Faced with a six point halftime deficit, Madison College outscored Anoka-Ramsey in the second half (47 to 43), but the comeback fell short.
Jason Miller led the high-scoring foursome with 26 points while adding eight rebounds.
Alex Wuensch finished right behind Miller with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
Sheldon Cooks (15) and
Lucas Baier (14) rounded out the group. Cooks added eight rebounds to share the team-lead with Miller, and Baier hauled down seven boards. Cooks also led the team with two blocks.
The second game for the men didn't start well, nor end well. Gogebic raced out to a 47 to 26 lead at the half before cruising to a 93-66 win.
Alex Wuensch and
Jason Miller tied for the team lead with 20 points in the lopsided loss, and
Dominic Fumbanks chipped in 13 points. Fumbanks also added a team leading four steals, while
Charlie Grafft got into the action with a team-high seven rebounds.
Like the women's basketball team, the men finally play their first home game of the season this Wednesday, November 14, when they host the NJCAA DI Sauk Valley Community College Skyhawks. Tip-off is at 7:30 PM.
