The WolfPack volleyball team played another great game on their way to upending the N4C conference leading and #2 nationally ranked Rock Valley College Golden Eagles 3-2 in another five set thriller last Thursday night in Rockford, IL. The 20-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 15-9 victory gives the 'Pack a season sweep of Rock Valley after defeating them in Madison on September 13 in the same five set fashion. After the game, Rock Valley and Madison are tied with the Harper College Hawks in the N4C conference standings with identical 9-2 records.
Similar to their September meeting, the WolfPack fell behind early before winning the second, fourth, and pivotal fifths sets in convincing fashion.
Terissa Bierd had a lot to do with the win as she registered a team-high 19 kills and tied for the team lead with two service aces. The Deerfield, WI native recorded 20 digs to finish second on the squad.
Payton Klein finished behind Bierd with 10 kills, and
Alexis Semrow assisted the high-powered offense with 35 assists. Madison College finished the evening with 46 kills and five service aces on the offensive side, and 92 digs, one solo block, and 22 block assists on the defensive side.
Vanessa Clarson (27) picked up seven more digs than Bierd, while
Morgan Ellickson (17) and
Dallas Iverson (11) finished in double digits in the category. Iverson also had two aces, and
Danielle Crawford and Klein tied for the team lead with six block assists.
The 18-4 WolfPack next take to the court on October 16 in River Grove, IL for their final N4C match of the year against the Triton College Trojans. The final N4C meeting for the WolfPack is doubly important since a win will help them surpass Harper and Rock Valley in the final conference standings.
