As Madison College head coach
Toby Parker put it, "We had our opportunities". The WolfPack certainly did, but couldn't capitalize on them in a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to fourth ranked Joliet Junior College.
Right from the start, the fans in attendance at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium could tell it was going to be a tough match for either team to take. Game one was decided by just two points, with the WolfPack eventually winning 26-24. After getting the hard fought game one victory, the WolfPack would continue to apply the pressure opening up a big lead in game two. However, they couldn't hold on, as the Wolves rallied to win 26-24. Fired up from the game two loss, Madison College would respond with a more convincing 25-16 win in game three. Sadly, despite leading two games to one, the 'Pack would drop the next two games by a combined four points (23-25, 14-16).
Hannah Schwartzer proved to be Ms. Everything in the loss for the WolfPack. Schwartzer, a sophomore outside hitter from Madison La Follette, finished with a team-high in kills (16), digs (24), and aces (3).
Calli Dahl led Madison in blocks (3), while
Kirsten Halma finished with 45 assists.
Madison College (15-6, 3-4) has now lost three of their last four matches. Next up, the team travels to compete in the NIACC Tournament tomorrow, October 1st, at 11:00AM. They will resume conference play on Tuesday, October 4th when they host Milwaukee Area Technical College at 6:00PM.
