In a non-conference match against in-state rival Western Technical College, the Madison College volleyball team put together a much needed win in three dominating sets to end their two match losing streak. The WolfPack swept the Cavaliers from Western Tech in the H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium 25-16, 25-11, and 25-10.
Several WolfPack stood out with impressive statistical efforts, including sophomore
Hannah Schwartzer who led the offense with seven kills. Fellow sophomore Callie Dahl finished right behind Schwartzer with five, while
Kaitlyn Nyman and
Kate Jonas pitched in four apiece in the route. Kristen Halma led the team with 20 assists to finish as the statistical leader in that category in all 20 games. Halma also led the team with four service aces, and pitched in eight digs. Dahl recorded a team leading 14 digs, and Jonas ended the match with 13. Coincidentally, the team leaders in digs both recorded a solo block and block assist.
With the three set win, the WolfPack improve to 15-5 overall, including 4-1 at home. The team remains in Madison for another home match September 29 when they host Joliet Junior College. The WolfPack volleyball team looks to improve upon their 3-3 conference record in the 6:00 PM game.
