The Madison College men's basketball team won their post-season opener by defeating the Rock Valley College Eagles on their home court 68-65. The WolfPack overcame a three point half-time deficit after a strong second half for their fifteenth win of the season.
Rock Valley College outshot the WolfPack in the first half 50% to 42% to take a commanding 19-8 lead, before Madison College slowly started their comeback. The WolfPack reversed the tables in the second half and outshot the Golden Eagles 54% to 40% from the field, including 50% beyond the arc compared to 27% for the home team.
The WolfPack were led by three athletes who finished in double digits, paced by guard
Aaron Jones' 20 points. Jones shot 7-for-11 from the field, and 5-for-8 from three point range. Guard
Mike Wynn and center
Garrett Borgrud finished with 12 and 11 points respectively, and Wynn dished out 8 assists in the post-season victory.
With the quarterfinal win, the #3 seeded WolfPack earn the right to take on the #2 seed Harper College Hawks on Wednesday night in Rockford, IL. The semifinal game starts at 7:30 PM. The other semifinal game is between #1 seed Joliet Junior College and #5 seed MATC-Milwaukee.
