The Madison College women's basketball team won their final regular season game 77-62 over the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers in Milwaukee on Saturday evening
The WolfPack used a strong defensive effort and timely offense in the 15 point road win. The WolfPack jumped out to an early 42-34 halftime lead. Madison College forced MATC-Milwaukee into 20 turnovers and recorded 56 defensive stops to the Stormers 47. Other signs of the WolPack's clear dominance on defense were the nine steals, eight blocked shots, and 58 to 45 rebound advantage they held.
Three WolfPack players reached double digits, led by sophomore guard and Oakfield, WI native, Jamie Nolan. Nolan scored a team high 21 points on 9-of-20 shooting from the field, while securing 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Sophomore post, Alicia Kopp, finished right behind Nolan with 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting, and fell two rebounds shy of her eleventh double-double of the season. Kopp hauled down eight rebounds and blocked two shots. Freshman post player Hannah Schwartzer finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, including five offensive boards. Two other key contributors were sophomore post, April Testman, and sophomore guard, Mya Flentje. Testman chipped in nine points, 11 rebounds, and three blocked shots, while Flentje led the team with nine assists and five steals.
The 14-14 Madison College women's basketball team returns to their home court tomorrow night for a NJCAA Region IV Quarterfinal game at 7:00 PM. The #4 seed WolfPack who finished 7-7 in the N4C, takes on the College of DuPage Chaparrals in their third meeting of the season.
