Madison College Men's Basketball Holds on for Conference Win

Sophomore guard Aaron Jones paced the WolfPack with 16 points in a 65-60 win over Wilbur Wright College Sunday afternoon in a North Central Community College (N4C) game. Originally scheduled to be played on February 1 in Chicago, the game was remade Sunday afternoon forcing back-to-back games for Madison College.

After limiting Wilbur Wright to 29% shooting from the field, the WolfPack held a comfortable 35-19 halftime lead before Madison College's strong defense thwarted the Rams comeback attempt. The WolfPack recorded 44 defensive stops, blocked 7 shots, and stole 9 passes in the five point victory. Depth also played a crucial role in the victory as the WolfPack bench outscored Wilbur Wright 18-2.

Jones was joined by three other double digit scores in Garrett Borgrud (14 points.), Jordan Van Cleave (14 points.), and Corey Yahnke (13 points). Van Cleave also grabbed 11 rebounds (5 offensive) in the contest for his first double-double of the season. Van Cleave registered a triple-double earlier in the season, and came close on Sunday as he dished out a team leading 5 assists in the big N4C win. Borgrud also led team on the defensive side of the ball with 4 blocks.

The road victory brings the team back to .500 in the N4C (6-6) and overall (13-13) with two regular season games remaining. Next up for the WolfPack is home finale on Tuesday, February 5.
